  4. Here are some features and other items of note for DropStuff with Expander Enhancer.  For more detailed information and instructions please read the documents ﾒDropStuffｪ Read Meﾓ and ﾒExpander Enhancer Read Meﾓ located in the "Read Us First!" folder.

  9. The following changes effect DropStuff:
  10.     The Stuff command in the File menu now works correctly.

  12. The following improvements were made to StuffIt Expander & Expander Enhancer:
  13.     Added support for expansion of files created by StuffIt SpaceSaver 3.5.
  14.     Added support for expansion of ZIP self-extracting archives.
  15.     Added support for expansion of QWK files.
  16.     Added support for expansion of tgz files.
  17.     Added support for joining StuffIt 2.0 segments.
  18.     Improved detection of ZIP, gzip and Unix Compress files.
  19.     When deleting segments after joining, ALL segments are now deleted.
  20.     Files of ﾒ.tar.gzﾓ will no longer have problems during expansion.
  21.     Improved System 6 compatibility.

  33. Key Modifiers for DropStuff
  34. ---------------------------
  35. While dragging and dropping a file on DropStuff...
  36.     * Holding down the control key will delete the original after Stuffing is finished.
  37.     * Holding down the option key brings up the one-time preferences dialog.  Any preferences you set in the preferences dialog will be used for the current Stuffing operation.

  39. What gets added to StuffIt Expander
  40. -------------------------
  41. When DropStuff with Expander Enhancer is installed, StuffIt Expander is able to expand files compressed with virtually every compression format found on the Macintosh, Unix systems, and IBM-PCs and compatibles. These include: StuffIt (.sit), Compact Pro (.cpt), ZIP (.zip), ARC (.arc), AppleLink (.pkg), gzip (.gz), Unix Compress (.Z), and StuffIt SpaceSaver files. Expander Enhancer also enables StuffIt Expander to expand files ﾒencodedﾓ in BinHex (.hqx), MacBinary (.bin) and UUEncoded (.uu) formats. It will also join files that were segmented with another StuffIt product.

  43. In addition, expansion of StuffIt, Compact Pro, BinHex, ZIP and ARC files will occur at accelerated speeds on a Power Macintosh (expansion of a sample StuffIt archive happens more than 5 times faster on a Power Macintosh 6100/66 than on a IIci).

  48. A large number of third-party products take advantage of Expander Enhancer for Stuffing and UnStuffing. Users of DropStuff with Expander Enhancer and the third-party solution will see the whole as greater than the sum of its parts.

Microphone II and Microphone Pro (Software Ventures), White Knight (Freesoft Company), DiskDoubler (Symantec), Central Point Anti-Virus (Central Point), QuicKeys (CE Software), 4D (ACI/Foresight), Omnis (Blyth/Foresight), HyperCard (Apple Computer), Mail*Link SMTP (Star Nine), Mail*Link Internet for PowerTalk (Star Nine), Mail*Link Remote (Star Nine), Profiles (Dayna), Safe Deposit (Dayna), Greg's Browser (Greg Landweber), Duplocator (Midnight Software), Tickle (ICE Engineering), Konnect FAST (Number One Graphics)and others. There are also vendors who directly support the StuffIt Expander software and others who have integrated StuffIt directly into their product. They include SAM (Symantec), CIM (CompuServe), America Online (America Online), eWorld (Apple), NewsWatcher (John Norstad), Anarchie (Peter Lewis), Fetch (Dartmouth University), Eudora (Qualcomm), and others.
